1. Overview

At Dr. Adel Academy, we want every student to feel confident in their purchase. This policy explains how refunds and cancellations work for single lessons and lesson packages. All refunds are processed through Tap Payments, our payment processor.

2. Free Trial Lesson

Your first lesson with any tutor is always a free trial lesson. No payment is taken, so no refund is necessary. This allows you to assess the tutor and decide if you would like to continue before committing financially.

3. Single Lesson Cancellations

More than 2 hours before the lesson: You may cancel for a full refund. The payment will be voided or refunded to your original payment method.

Less than 2 hours before the lesson: Cancellations within the 2-hour window are at the tutor's discretion. Tutors may choose to offer a reschedule or partial refund, but are not obligated to do so.

Tutor no-show: If your tutor does not attend the scheduled lesson, you will automatically receive a full refund.

Student no-show: If you do not attend without prior cancellation, no refund will be issued.

4. Lesson Package Refunds

We offer lesson packages of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 lessons at discounted rates up to 33% off.

You may cancel a package at any time and receive a refund for unused lessons. Here is how the refund is calculated:

Package Refund Calculation

  1. Lessons you have already taken are charged at the tutor's standard (non-discounted) hourly rate, not the discounted package rate.
  2. The refund amount equals the total you paid minus the cost of used lessons at the standard rate.
  3. Formula: Refund = Total Paid − (Used Lessons × Standard Hourly Rate)

Example: You purchase a 20-lesson package at a 10% discount. The tutor's standard rate is $10/hour, so you pay $180 total ($9/lesson × 20). After completing 5 lessons, you cancel. The 5 used lessons are charged at the full $10/hour rate ($50). Your refund is $180 − $50 = $130.

If the value of used lessons at the standard rate exceeds what you paid, no refund is available. This ensures fair compensation for the tutor while still protecting students who want to cancel early.

5. How Refunds Are Processed

All refunds are issued through Tap Payments, our payment processor. Refunds are returned to your original payment method (credit card, debit card, or PayPal).

Processing time: Refunds are initiated within 1–2 business days of the cancellation request. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take an additional 5–10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.

6. How to Request a Refund

Single lessons: Cancel through your student dashboard before the cancellation window. Refunds for eligible cancellations are processed automatically.

Lesson packages: Navigate to your billing page, find the active package, and click "Cancel & Refund." The refund amount is calculated and displayed before you confirm.

7. Exceptions

We reserve the right to deny refund requests in cases of:

  • Fraudulent or abusive use of the platform.
  • Repeated cancellations intended to exploit the refund system.
  • Violations of our Terms of Service.
